Want to get to know us more? Below are answers to some of the most commonly asked questions. We can't wait to see you soon at Lola's!

What exactly is SoCal Mexican cuisine? How does it differ from other regional Mexican styles?

Southern California Mexican food is a blend of traditional Mexican flavors with the fresh, local ingredients and culinary influences of California. It focuses on using seasonal, locally sourced produce, and compared to other regional Mexican cuisines that often emphasize meats, SoCal cuisine tends to feature lighter proteins like fish and seafood, along with a stronger emphasis on vegetarian and vegan options.

What is the inspiration behind Lola’s SoCal Mexican menu?

Our chef and owner, michael presnal, brings a unique perspective to SoCal Mexican cuisine, born from years spent working on and around the ocean. His early career was deeply intertwined with the coastal life. It was on Martha's Vineyard, amidst the island's vibrant culinary scene, that he truly embraced the power of fresh, high-quality ingredients sourced directly from the local landscape. This experience ignited a passion for showcasing the best of what's available "in our own backyard," a philosophy that now infuses his inspired SoCal Mexican menu. Drawing on both his coastal experiences and his dedication to local sourcing, Chef Mike crafts dishes that celebrate the vibrant flavors of Southern California while highlighting the remarkable bounty of New England.
